Remember when we got lost in Wyoming by following our GPS? Well, the first stop of the road trip was in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Clarinda is a sucker for waterfalls, so when planning the big road trip of 2009, we simply had to make a stop at Falls Park in Sioux Falls.
We weren't disappointed.
All the rushing water flowing over all of the rocks. Clarinda was in a little bit of heaven.
There were plenty of rocks to walk along, and you could get right up next to the rushing water. Sallie, who hates the water, even had a fun time.
And there were geese everywhere!
We didn't get too close, of course, because geese can be quite mean!
There was even an old grist mill, which was once part of the ill-fated Queen Bee Mill.
The park is actually pretty large - 123 acres - and a very enjoyable place to spend an afternoon.
We mostly just stopped for the waterfalls, but there are quite a few restored buildings as well as some permanent sculptures that would have been fun to check out as well. And, of course, there is also the Falls Overlook Cafe, which is a reconstruction of the old Sioux Falls Light and Power Company building.
Perhaps one day we'll have an opportunity to stop in Sioux Falls again.
