Even though there's no scuba diving, ever since then, we've been dreaming about making a road trip out to this National Park.
The Mammoth Cave is the world's longest known cave system, with more than 400 miles explored. We, of course, wouldn't explore all 400 miles, but it would be fun to do some exploring!
There are 10 different cave tours available, from an easy 1+ hour tour to a 6 hour Wild Cave tour. These all have fees above the normal entrance fee into a national park, but would be very much worth it. The fees range from $13/person to $55/person. Here's a link to their schedule for the Summer of 2016. Reservations for the cave tours aren't required, but they are recommended to ensure a spot.
All the fun isn't just below ground, either. There are a lot of things to do above ground as well. From hiking, biking, and horseback riding to canoeing and kayaking on the river, there are plenty of ways to explore this park.

We love to take Sallie with us on our road trips, so our lodging options inside the park are a little limited. We could do some camping or stay in one of the Woodland Cottages. Pets aren't allowed inside the caves, but there is a kennel at the Mammoth Cave Hotel.
With all the options for above and below ground fun, we're even more excited to plan a trip to the Mammoth Cave.
